Virgin Galactic Spaceport America
The race to be the first viable commercial human spaceflight company is on, and with Spaceport American, Virgin Galactic hopes to get there first. It's set on 27 square miles of New Mexico desert, with a Foster + Partners-designed building — dubbed the Gateway to Space — as the highlight. The Gateway serves as a vehicle hangar, mission control, and a hub for astronaut training and preparation. Like any good aviation hub, it also appears to have a lounge from which you can enjoy a drink while watching the flights come and go.
