Vollebak Aerogel Puffer
Aerogel is an astonishingly effective insulator. That's why NASA has used it to line their spacesuits. Its individual nanopores are 10,000 times thinner than a human hair, making it almost impossible for air to pass through it. Invented by Stanford University, it was adopted by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the 1990s and has been travelling to and from space ever since. The Aerogel Puffer combines advanced synthetic insulation embedded with particles of aerogel, with an outer shell made from an ultra-lightweight Japanese yarn. It comes with five zippered pockets to warm hands and store gear, plus an aerogel-lined hood to help keep you warm at -30°C.
