Waiheke Island Tent House

Surrounded by the lush vegetation, the Waiheke Island Tent House is the modernist's way to get in touch with nature. The structure mimics the simplicity of a pitched tent with its A-frame form, while its clean lines and sharp angles lend to a more contemporary design. Clad in a black tin, the exterior's dark facade is contrasted by a crisp white palette on the interior. The ground floor consists of a kitchen, living area, and sculpted spiral staircase that leads to a lofted bedroom. A wall of glass exposes both levels to natural light, as well as views of the rain forest setting. Although the name may make you think you're going to be roughing it, the closest thing you'll be to an actual campsite is when you're roasting marshmallows on the outdoor fire pit.
