It's rather silly that for $549 Apple doesn't include a more protective case with the AirPods Max. Waterfield is stepping in to fill the void with its Shield case. As the Max doesn't have a power button, the case's plush interior has a magnetic leather "butterfly" that stands up to put the headphones into ultra-low-power mode or lies flat if the headphones are already inside the Smart Case. There's a mesh pocket inside, sized for a charging block, as well as a large mesh pocket on the rear of the leather exterior and an angled front zipper pocket. Finished with waterproof, scratch-free zippers, it's designed and made in San Francisco.
