For decades, it was thought that only stainless steel and yellow gold versions of reference 6265 existed. Until this White Gold Rolex Daytona 6265 Watch was discovered. Nicknamed "The Unicorn" for its one-of-a-kind nature, it was manufactured in 1970 and delivered to a German retailer in 1971. In the years since, the special order item has returned to Rolex on several occasions — most likely for service — and remains in outstanding condition. Its current owner purchased it eight years ago but is now putting this rare piece up for auction. It will go under the hammer at the Daytona Ultimatum event in Geneva on May 12, with the proceeds going to benefit the group Children Action.
