Land Rover Defender LXV Special Edition

For those of you that aren't down with Roman numerals, LXV stands for 65. As in, 65 years of Land Rover. In celebration of this milestone, the venerable 4x4 maker is releasing the Land Rover Defender LXV Special Edition ($TBA). Based on the standard Defender, it features a 2.2L diesel engine, 6-speed manual transmission, 16-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels, and a black or white paint job with a contrasting gray roof, grille, headlight surround, and fascia. Inside, you'll find leather seats with LXV embossed on the headrests and orange contrast stitching. No word yet on a stateside release.

  • 2014 Range Rover Sport

    Little did we know it, but Range Rover must've sent its poor Sport model away to fat camp for awhile, because the all-new 2014 Range Rover Sport ($64,000-$94,000) is quite a bit lighter than its predecessor. 800 lbs. lighter, to be exact, which is all the more impressive given that the new model is 2.5-inches longer than the prior model, yet boasts a wheelbase that's been increased by 7 inches. All this is made possible by a new high-strength aluminum structure, which joins other features like a third-row seating option, a new fully automatic Terrain Response 2 system, a new single-speed transfer case for the intelligent 4WD system, a new 340hp, 3.0L supercharged V6 that joins the 510hp supercharged V8 as an option for linking to the eight-speed ZF transmission, and an aerodynamic body that reduces drag while bringing the Sport's looks in-line with the Evoque and full-size Rover.

  • Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6

    We're not sure who it's really for — multi-millionaires with secret lairs miles away from the nearest road, perhaps? — but we do know it's badass. The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 (£350,000; roughly $525,000) is the biggest, most rugged offroader Stuttgart's ever produced. As the name suggests, it features six wheels for increased traction, a twin-turbocharged 5.5L AMG V8 cranking out 536hp, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. It's not all rugged capability, though, with an interior that features copious amounts of leather and Alcantara, sports seats, and other luxurious appointments. Just don't expect to see too many of them — word has it there's only going to be 20-30 built each year. [via]
