1952 Alfa Romeo 1900 M Matta

Drawing inspiration from the original Willy Jeep and Land Rover, this 1952 Alfa Romeo 1900 M Matta is among the vehicles that led to the modern SUV. While the original prototype was based on the Rover, this model had a number of notable differences, including a 65hp, 1,900cc engine, an independent front suspension and rigid wheel axle, both with hydraulic shock absorbers, four-wheel drum brakes, and a body capable of being covered with a canvas top. Only 2,050 examples were produced, with only 50 built for private use, making this "Mad Alfa" a truly desirable piece of off-road equipment.
