1959 JeanRichard Aquastar 60 Challenger Deep Watch

Purchased in San Diego in 1959, US Navy Underwater Swimmer Don Walsh wore this JeanRichard Aquastar 60 dive watch as he piloted the Bathyscaph Trieste to the deepest place in the ocean — the Challenger Deep in the Marianas Trench — in 1960. It was on his wrist at the White House when he received the Legion of Merit from President Eisenhower for his explorations at 10,916 meters under the sea. And it was with his son as he made his own trip to the Trench in 2019 and 2020. As such, it's the only timepiece to have visited the seafloor at Challenger Deep on three separate expeditions, making it a remarkable piece of history. Powered by an automatic movement, the well-preserved timepiece has a 36mm stainless steel case, lovely aged lume on the indices, and arrives on its original strap.
