1969 Ford Bronco Big Oly Rally Truck
The legendary Ford Bronco driven by Parnelli Jones and Bill Stroppe didn't just score two consecutive wins in the Baja 1000 — it set a template for offroad racing that continues to today. While technically a 1969 Ford Bronco, the chassis is a custom-built chro-moly space frame. Lightweight aluminum and fiberglass are used throughout, ideas Jones brought from his days in racing in the Indy car series, where he won the 1963 Indy 500. Powered by a 390 horsepower 351 cubic-inch V8, Jones and Stroppe won the 1971 and 1972 Baja 1000, along with the 1973 Baja 500 and Mint 400. A landmark piece of racing history, the Big Oly will go to auction May 14th in Indianapolis.
