1972 Topps Julius Erving Autographed Rookie Card

Julius "Dr. J" Erving's trip to basketball stardom was a rocky one. He had to force his way out of college to the ABA, signed a shady contract with the Virginia Squires, was traded to the Nets, and finally arrived in the NBA with the Sixers, with whom he'd win his lone NBA title. This rookie card — the only one recognized as his true rookie — is taken from the beginning of his pro journey, and shows him in his red, blue, and white Squires jersey against a black background. This specific card is notable not for its condition, but for Erving's signature and inscription on the front, in which he listed "1981 NBA MVP" and "1983 NBA CHAMPS". The signature has been authenticated and graded a 10 out of 10 by PSA, making it highly desirable, and the card arrives in a protective hard case.
