1979 Lancia Stratos Gr. 4 Rally Car
All that Marcello Gandini designs turns to gold. Gandini's Countach, Diablo, and Miura get the lion's share of attention, but look down the list and you'll find daily driver icons like the BMW 5 Series, Renault 5, and the original VW Polo. But in Gandini's incredible catalog, nothing stands out quite like the Lancia Stratos. The car that would dominate rally racing in the '70s and early '80s personifies Gandini's "wedge" shape, with Lancia's chassis and Ferrari's Dino V6 putting the auto in the upper echelon of sports cars. Antonio 'Tony' Fassina drove this 1979 Stratos Group 4 car in the Italian Championship, taking five victories and failing to finish four times — when Fassina finished the race, he won every time. The car was campaigned again in 1980, with a slightly lower but still impressive result, before passing into the hands of a privateer in 1981. The car's final competitive season was in 1982. This Stratos has been maintained in race-ready condition since 2015, and is now being offered for sale — a rare chance to own a legend.
