The Last Shelby Cobra

Code-named Project Daisy, the 2004 Shelby Cobra concept was due to follow the introduction of the Ford GT in 2005. An economic downturn canceled the project, but not before one fully functional concept car was built. Powered by an experimental 6.5-liter, 605 horsepower V10, the Shelby Cobra drove the rear wheels through a rear-mounted six-speed transaxle. The car borrowed the front and rear suspension components from the GT, with everything carried in aluminum space frame chassis. The car was tested by Carroll Shelby himself at Irwindale Speedway, covering over 150 miles, and starred in the movie XXX: State of the Union, driven by Ice Cube. The car will go up for auction in August at Mecum's Monterey event, and comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Ford, a build book presented to then Ford COO Nick Sheele, and a certificate from the Shelby Registry.
