2015 Porsche 918 Gulf Oil Spyder
Making its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the Porsche 918 SPyder entered production in 2013 as the most technologically advanced road car in Porsche's history. A 4.6-liter V8 derived from the LMP2 RS Spyder made 608 horsepower, with an electric motor on each axle adding 280 more. A seven-speed PDK transmission and all-wheel-drive helped propel the 918 from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds to a top speed of 217 MPH. 918 units were produced, with two finished in the iconic Gulf Oil livery, both going to the same Canadian client. Porsche initially refused the request for the Gulf colors, with the customer securing permission from Gulf for its use. Unlike the Martini vinyl wrap offered by the factory, this 918 was painted by Porsche, down to the Gulf logos. While the other 918 Gulf remains with the owner, the second is going to auction via Gooding & Co. in March.
