Segway's original Apex is a solid-if-uninspiring electric scooter primarily for the Chinese market. Now, Segway is expanding the Apex lineup with something completely unexpected — a hybrid hydrogen-electric motorcycle called the Apex H2. Leaving aside the powertrain, the Apex H2 looks as futuristic as what propels it, with single-sided swingarms front and rear that give the impression of floating wheels. Flat wheel covers and LED lighting strips that run across the circumference along with the overall design give a very cyberpunk feel. The claimed hybrid system uses gaseous hydrogen to power a battery that in turn feeds an electric motor driving the rear wheel, although how that's transmitted — via chain or hub motor — is unclear. Segway is planning on a 2023 release date for the Apex H2.
