Macs were once the preferred computer for creatives. With recent lags in updates and suspect keyboards, the door is open for others to fill that role — which is exactly what Acer aims to do with its new ConceptD line. On the desktop, it includes the $20,000 900, aimed at filmmakers, animators, and others who need maximum rendering power, as well as the more accessible yet still powerful 500. The laptop line includes the 17-inch, 3D-focused 9, the powerful 7, and the compact 5, all with Pantone Validated displays for the most accurate color possible. The same Pantone blessing has been given to the monitors, which include the 32-inch, 2D-focused CM7321K and the 27-inch, 3D-optimized CP7271K. Finally, the OJO Windows Mixed Reality Headset features a 4,320 x 2,160 display and a unique detachable design. The collection will begin rolling out in June.
