The next great artist might not even be human. In an upcoming auction, Christie's will become the first to put up a piece made completely by artificial intelligence. The artwork is the brainchild of the Paris-based studio Obvious. Using an algorithm, the computer produced a blurry portrait of a fictional Edmond Belamy that was then printed on a canvas and framed. The formula used for its creation is featured on the bottom right corner, serving as the artist's signature. This print is one of a collection of an entire Belamy family used to explore the connection between art and AI but the real question remains, will it shred?
