Andy Warhol's Shot Sage Blue Marilyn
Andy Warhol's work is perhaps the most recognizable of all 20th century art, and his painted screenprints of Marilyn Monroe are the most iconic amongst those. This particular version, Shot Sage Blue Marilyn, was completed in 1964 and is coming up for auction. All proceeds from the sale will go to benefit the Thomas and Doris Ammann Foundation, which is selling it, meaning all the money will go towards improving the lives of children across the world by providing healthcare and educational programs. Measuring a sizable 40 inches square, it will be sold by Christie's in New York this May, and is expected to become the most expensive piece of 20th century art ever sold.
