Based on the vast furniture collection held by the Vitra Design Museum, the largest in the world, the Atlas of Furniture Design is the most extensive examination of furniture. The book is a roadmap through the history of design, guiding reading through 1,740 objects by 546 designers, including Le Corbusier, Achille Castiglioni, Philippe Starck, Charles and Ray Eames, and George Nelson. It contains contributions from 71 authors with essays exploring the context of each design, while 551 detailed texts and 2,500 images accompany each object.
