Audi is taking its flagship Q8 SUV and downsizing it in the mid-size Q3, positioned to take on fellow German rivals BMW and Mercedes in the booming segment. Taking the design language of the Q8, the Q3 maintains the muscular looks of the larger SUV and Audi's lineup of sedans, with the Sportback adding a coupe-like fastback design that gives it a significantly more sporty look. Despite the increased ride height, Audi has engineered some pep into the Q3 Sportback, with standard multi-mode sport suspension and engine options ranging from a 2.0-liter diesel to a 226 horsepower turbo four-cylinder, with a mild hybrid arriving sometimes after launch. A surprise announcement was the transmission options, with a manual being available on the quattro all-wheel-drive model. The Q3 Sportback will hit the European market in Fall 2019.
