Audi is out to prove its electric technology in one of the most demanding races on Earth — the Dakar Rally. The hybrid RS Q E-Tron is a purpose-built car that shares nothing with any current Audi production models, a decision Audi made due to the Dakar's 500-plus mile stages. When the fastest time wins, stopping to recharge just isn't an option. The RS Q E-Tron uses a TFSI engine from Audi's DTM program that charges a 50kW battery. Two electric motors from Audi's Formula E program power all four wheels, with a total output of 670 horsepower. The 2022 Dakar Rally starts in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia, and ends in Jeddah 12 days later.
