Ben Hogan's Personal Prototype Putter

After his split with MacGregor, Ben Hogan launched the golf club company bearing his name with trusted clubmaker Gene Sheeley by his side. This prototype putter was used by Hogan during this period — circa 1953 — to fine-tune the specifications of the signature "His Own" short stick before manufacturing began. Hogan's tinkering is apparent in the lead tape added to the back to increase weight, as well as the points on top of both the heel and toe. Offered for sale by Sheeley's grandson Chris, it has Hogan's signature and "His Own" script on the bottom and comes with a signed letter of provenance.
