BMW M 1000 XR Prototype

BMW has just announced the third bike in its high-performance M lineup, the M 1000 XR. The M 1000 XR is based on the S 1000 XR sport-touring motorcycle with a host of performance upgrades to give it the coveted M designation. That starts with the liquid-cooled 1,000cc RR inline-four, making 200 horsepower with ShiftCam variable valve timing. Total weight for the bike is just 492 pounds, making the M 1000 XR the most powerful bike in its class. The partly-exposed bike wears carbon fiber bodywork, along with M-spec handlebars, brakes, a carbon-tipped Akrapovič silencer. and carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Metzeler RaceTec RR tires. While BMW labels the M 1000 XR as a prototype, the bike looks to be heading for production, with more details coming later in 2023.
