BMW R 18 Dragster Motorcycle
BMW's R 18 is built to be a blank canvas — a bike that can be customized into nearly anything you could dream up. Famed designer Roland Sands took the opportunity to see how far you could bush the design of the R 18 and came up with this classicly-styled dragster. Starting with a sketch, Sands broke down the R 18 — helped by the easy-to-disassemble engineering — and converted the rear into a hardtail. The stock neck geometry was retained, while both fenders were modified to keep the stock look. Nitrous and a custom exhaust were added, along with Dunlop drag slicks. A host of custom-milled aluminum parts, from the wheels to gauge bezels, were created specifically for the build, topped off by a day at the strip.
