BMW X5 Protection VR6 Armored SUV

For those who need a little extra protection — from small arms fire and explosive devices — BMW offers an armored version of the X5 SUV. The X5 Protection VR6 comes straight from Munich meeting the specifications of the German Vereinigung der Prüfstellen für Angriffshemmende Materialien und Konstruktionen, or the Association of Test Laboratories for Attack-Resistant Materials and Constructions, for ballistic and blast resistance. The X5 Protection gets subtle styling notes in the headlights and grille that mark it from standard models, while power comes from the M's 530 horsepower V8 hybrid unit and all-wheel-drive. The suspension has been upgraded and tuned specifically to the model to deal with the added weight and subsequent balance changes. Inside, the interior is BMW luxury, with no hint of the protective elements of the SUV. The X5 Protection VR6 arrives in February 2024.
