Borge Mogensen Prototype Chair
Danish designer Borge Mogensen created hundreds of pieces of furniture over his career. This prototype chair was among the first. Foreshadowing many of his later hunting chairs, specifically his iconic "Spanish Chair" from 1958, it has a solid wooden frame — rendered here in patinated oak — and canvas straps for the seat, back, and armrests. This particular example was produced in 1951 and has a loose leather seat cushion that helps set it apart from similar pieces from the period. Found in a private Danish collection, it ships from Waalwijk in the Netherlands.
