Founded in Portland, Oregon, James Brand builds knives with a minimal aesthetic. Their tools are built using the highest-quality materials, and have austere yet timeless forms that look right at home alongside the latest gadgets and vintage artifacts alike.
The right everyday carry knife is both compact and useful at a moment's notice. Designed to be small enough for a keyring but strong enough to use everyday, the minimal Elko from James Brand fits that description. It packs plenty into its small aluminum frame — which weighs only 1.3 ounces and is just 2.6-inches closed — including a Sandvik 12C27 black stainless steel blade and a stainless steel pry tool that also acts as a bottle opener and flathead screwdriver. The Elko has a serviceable assembly for DIY maintenance. Available completely blacked out or with titanium scales, and arrives in a waterproof pouch that just so happens to be the right size for a smartphone.
Built at their HQ in Portland, the James County is exceptionally handsome while retaining all of the utility and usefulness of your favorite pocket knife. The knife features beautiful ebony, walnut, or titanium inlays, a Sandvik 12C27 steel blade in either stainless or black PVD with matching 416 steel hardware, and an opening at the end for attaching a lanyard. With a blade length of 2.5-inches and a clip-less design, the County knife will live in your pocket undetected — both by you and by anyone who thinks you shouldn't be carrying one.
Length: 3.5" (closed), 6" (open) / Depth: 0.35" / Weight: 1.96 oz
Serving as James Brand's workhorse, the Folsom is already a perfect pocket knife. Our collaboration version takes things one step further with wooden handles and a black PVD-coated blade. But instead of staining the wooden grip, real Ebony wood was used to give it the darkest hue possible. The natural density of the Ebony grip gives the Folsom proper balance, and the Carpenter CTS-BD1 stainless steel blade provides corrosion resistance while maintaining its edge for years of usage. At 4-inches when closed, a slim profile, and an overall weight of 3.4 ounces, the liner-lock knife is ideal for slipping into a pocket for everyday carry. Frequent usage is made even easier by the ambidextrous opening-slot and stainless steel clip that can be moved to either side.
