Burt Reynolds' 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

When Burt Reynolds passed away at the age of 82, it signaled an end of an era in Hollywood. The 1977 film Smokey and the Bandit produced another icon — the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am driven by Reynolds in the film. Reynolds personally oversaw the construction of this recreation, using a 1978 Trans Am with a host of modern amenities. A the 400-cubic inch Pontiac V8 was rebuilt with Butler Performance parts, a custom automatic transmission, and new air conditioning, all while retaining the original look. The car wears the black and gold paint with the "Screaming Chicken" logo on the hood, and on the glovebox is the signature of the Bandit himself. Two other cars from Reynolds' films are also coming across the auction block — the tow truck from Cannonball Run and the red Trans Am from Hooper.
