Clark Gable's 1952 Jaguar XK120 Roadster

There was no car more fitting for the King of Hollywood in 1952 than the Jaguar XK120. The fastest car in the world at the time, the XK120 redefined the standards for both performance and design, remaining one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. Actor Clark Gable specified this XK120 with performance options like wire wheels and louvers on the bonnet, along with a custom factory-installed luggage rack to carry his golf clubs. Gable spent 18 months crossing the Continent in the car, including a long trip from Paris to Rome, before returning to California with it in 1953. Soon afterward, he sold the car to one Irving Robbins Jr. The car was purchased in 1982 by the current owners father and underwent a meticulous restoration over five years, confirming the car retained its original engine, transmission, and bodywork. This famous XK120 goes to auction in May 2023 in Cernobbio, Italy.
