Continental x Genesis 3D Gauge Display

It wasn't long ago that digital dashboards were a big deal. Now Genesis has teamed with Continental on a 3D display that will serve as the gauges of the high-end GV80 SUV. The glasses-free display creates the 3D effect using a series of slanted slats that divide the image for the viewer, resulting in two different, slightly offset views for both the right and left eye. A camera tracks the driver's line of sight and adjusts the view to match, and also detects — and warns — of distracted or fatigued driving. While this will be the first such screen to appear in a production vehicle, Continental is already working on its next-generation 3D display, which will use 3D light-field technology to remove the need for cameras and enable everything from video conferencing to in-car 3D movies.
