Earle Ducati Alaskan Motorcycle

Alex Earle works on designing cars at his day job with VW America — but builds bikes in his LA in his spare time. Working for Volkswagen means Alex has legitimate chops in both the design and engineering areas, born out by only his second build, the Ducati-based Alaskan. Starting with a Ducati Desert Sled, Alex takes the already-capable dual sport to the next level. Swingarm extenders provide extra stability over rough terrain, and a Kevlar skid plate and crash guards offer extra protection to vital components. A hand-formed tank holds six gallons of fuel, and a two-gallon reserve tank under the tail doubles the time you can spend away from civilization. And to make sure it all works, Alex spent two weeks covering hundreds of miles in the Alaskan wilderness, earning the bike's name.
