Underneath that simplicity, FiiO Snowsky put a Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC chip known for outperforming its price bracket, decoding DSD256 alongside FLAC, WAV, APE, MP3, and AAC files off a microSD card and out through a 3.5mm jack. Plug it into a phone or laptop instead and it reverses roles, working as a USB DAC that replaces the source device's built-in audio hardware entirely. The wheel that made those old players a hassle to navigate is the same thing keeping this one free of a feed to scroll through.
