Calling any 911 model the "ultimate" 911 is a lesson in futility — and how to quickly lose friends. From Le Mans-winning factory racers to aftermarket resto-mods that rival current production 911s, there's no shortage of extreme-performance variants of Porsche's most famous model. Porsche tuner Gemballa is making a strong case for its GTR 8XX EVO-R as one of the best 911s ever, taking the 911 Turbo to hypercar levels of performance. The 3.8-liter flat-six produces 818 horsepower and 810 lb-ft of torque thanks to larger turbos and enhanced internals. This pushes the EVO-R to 62 MPH in 2.38 seconds and from 0-124 in a face-peeling 7.5 seconds. The exterior aero treatment is anything but subtle, with carbon fiber front and rear spoilers and fender flares that widen the track by 1.2 inches in front and two inches in the rear, bringing handling in line with the increased power. Pricing and availability haven't been released, but building one of the best 911s ever won't be cheap.
