With the release of the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Gold Crystal Watch, the renowned Horlogerie adds master alchemist to its resume. The limited-edition timepiece features a dial made from 24K gold crystals produced at the Swiss watchmaker's metallurgy laboratory using a process that heats pure gold to its melting point of 1064.18 degrees Celsius. The precious metal's atoms vaporize into a gaseous mixture and interlock into an angular structure as the temperature is lowered. Once completed, the most perfect crystals are selected and encapsulated by hand in 20 thin layers of transparent lacquer. The dial is then polished unit it's smooth and set in a black ceramic case. Available in both 39 and 42 mm, the watch is powered by a HUB1710 self-winding movement and finished with a black rubber strap with an alligator overlay.
