The best tools are often mission-specific. So it is with the Sarek axe. It's built in Norrkoping, Sweden, using a hand-forging process that dates back to the company's founding in 1697. Designed specifically for splitting wood, it has a Swedish steel head that's struck multiple times to make it denser and more durable, with a unique shape with slightly convex grinding. It's attached to a long, straight American hickory handle that makes it easy to build up the speed necessary for tackling larger logs.
