ここ数年、ミラーレスカメラが多く出回っており、キャノンはややその市場で遅れを取っていたが、今回登場した「EOS M50」で大幅なアプローチをかけてきた。Mシリーズで初となる4K動画撮影や、キャノン初の撮った写真をスマホへ自動送信する機能など、今期待される機能が加わった。また、改良されたデュアルピクセルAFシステムに2,410万画素のCMOSセンサーを搭載。カラーはブラックとホワイトの2種類。
