ここは、ブリティッシュコロンビアの小さなホビーファーム。庭や果樹園、牧草地に囲まれた「スワローフィールド・バーン」は昔ながらの素朴な離れ家をイメージチェンジした住宅だ。新しい建物は、シンプルな形と縦ラインが特徴の板張りの壁でクラシカルな納屋の雰囲気に近いものの、オフセット感のある切妻屋根がモダンな印象を与えている。一階にはワークショップと家畜小屋があり、二階部分は飼料倉庫としてだけでなく、家族が集まってゆったりと収穫した果物を楽しむ場としても使える。
