Lotus Emeya EV

The Emeya is a sea change event for Lotus. No longer is the British company's flagship car a small, two-seat sports car -- it's now a four-door electric GT. Based largely on the Eletre electric SUV, the Emeya is most likely to enter production with a three-model lineup, topped by the Eletre R's 905 horsepower, 727 lb-ft dual-motor drivetrain and two-speed transmission. Lotus claims a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 MPH, and while Lotus didn't release range figures, the 102 kWh battery should allow it to exceed at least 300 miles of range. The Emeya's 800-volt architecture gives it a 10-80 percent charge time of 15 minutes with a 350 kW fast charger. The Emeya's exterior borrows from the Eletre's lines, with active aero elements like a front that closes to reduce drag and opens to cool the brakes and battery when needed, an active front splitter, and an active rear diffuser and rear wing. A semi-active air suspension promises to keep the car in Lotus' grand tradition of excellent roadholding. The Emeya will enter production in 2024, will reservations open now.
