Mercedes-Benz x Virgil Abloh Project Maybach Concept

The fashion world lost one of its brightest stars when it was announced that 41-year-old artistic director of Louis Vuitton men's wear Virgil Abloh had passed away after a private battle with cancer. Abloh's range as a designer was vast, and this collaboration between him and Mercedes shows what he was capable of — and how much the world lost. Project Maybach is a two-seat off-road coupe with a smooth, defined shape that avoids the vague curves of modern vehicles. The long hood/short deck proportions recall the great prewar Mercedes' of the past, while the interior makes a statement with its spartan minimalism. The electric vehicle is powered in part by solar cells underneath the transparent hood, while the classic shape is contrasted with an external roll cage and massive off-road tires. The Project Maybach will be on display to the public at Miami's Rubell Museum December 1-2 2021.
