Meyers Manx 2.0 Buggy

The Meyers Manx debuted in 1964, and VW Beetle-based buggy immediately became a '60s icon. Nearly 60 years later, the Manx is getting a total makeover as an EV with an all-new aluminum monocoque frame, freeing it from its Beetle origins. The Meyers Manx 2.0 uses a pair of electric motors to send 202 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Two battery packs are offered: A 20kWh unit with 150 miles of range, or a 40kWh pack with up to 300 miles of range. Manx CEO Freeman Thomas penned the bodywork, which is still one-piece fiberglass, and is a subtly updated version of the original, keeping the exaggerated fenders and bug-eye headlights. Manx will build 50 units in 2023, with those owners being a part of the development process, with full production starting in 2024.
