The AM General H1 was built for military service and the production version didn't stray from its original purpose. One of the most capable vehicles ever produced, Detroit-based Mil-Spec takes the H1 to another level in terms of performance and bespoke customization. Their latest model, #006, started with a slant-back H1. The first step was completely tearing down the 1996 four-door, removing every nut and bolt and restoring it to better-than-factory specs. The frame was strengthened and body panels replaced with aircraft-grade aluminum. The original motor was replaced with a rebuilt 6.6-liter Duramax diesel tuned for 500 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque backed up by an Allison six-speed automatic transmission. If you're looking for the ultimate version of the H1, this is it.
