Morgan Midsummer Roadster
While the Miata carries the torch of the classic British roadster, Morgan is still building the classic British roadster, by hand, with a six-month waiting list. For the first time in its 115-year history, Morgan has collaborated with another company on the styling of one of its unique cars — that company being Pininfarina. The Morgan Midsummer uses a barchetta body style, inspired by the Italian Riviera. That means the Midsummer has no roof and only minimal wind deflectors to break its smooth, flowing lines and hand-formed wood panels. The Morgan Plus Six lends its bonded aluminum chassis and BMW-sourced 335 horsepower inline-six with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the Midsummer weighing 330 pounds less. With a run of only 50 units, the Midsummer is so unique that Pininfarina bestowed it with the Fuoriserie badge, previously reserved for extremely low-volume, "out-of-production" cars.
