It's based on the original 997 from the 1990s, but New Balance's 997H strikes a more casual tone than the classic runner. An upper made from leather and durable Cordura is rendered in shades of grey, with light grey on the front/toe, darker grey for the mid-foot wrap and tonal "N" logo, and a strip of black around the heel cup. The lightweight, injection-molded EVA foam midsole is given a speckled pattern and sits atop a lightly-treaded rubber outsole that's ideal for everyday wear.
