Panerai Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni Platinum Watch

For the 100th anniversary of Panerai's historic Florence boutique, the brand went back to a rare 1960s prototype, ref. 6152/1, held in a private collection, and rebuilt it in Platinumtech, a 95%-pure platinum alloy developed for greater hardness and scratch resistance than standard platinum. The crown-protecting bridge carries a detail lifted straight from that prototype: parallel grooves cut into its inner sides, originally engineered to give divers a better grip on the crown while wearing gloves, working underwater, or working in low visibility. Panerai's hand-wound P.5000 calibre runs an 8-day power reserve off two barrels, visible through an open sapphire caseback with blue inscriptions and red jewels. The green brass dial has a circular-brushed finish and a rare "Panerai Firenze" inscription at 12 o'clock, tone-on-tone with the dial itself. It's water-resistant to 328 feet, and every case is pressure-tested 25 percent beyond its rated depth. Limited to 100 pieces, it ships with both a black Tuscan calf leather strap and a green rubber alternative, inside a lacquered mahogany box with a metal plaque depicting the historic Florence boutique's entrance.
