Paul McCartney's 1988 Gibson Les Paul Guitar

In 1988, Paul McCartney appeared in the HBO special Les Paul and Friends: A Tribute Concert for legendary guitarist and electric guitar pioneer Les Paul. While a scheduling conflict prevented him from appearing on stage, Sir Paul sat down for an interview and played a Les Paul song. Gibson provided instruments for made for each guest, which included the likes of Eddie Van Halen and B.B. King. This 1988 Les Paul Custom was made specifically for McCartney and played by him in his segment — and it's now up for auction. The guitar is practically new and features McCartney's name and the date — 8-18-88 — of the performance on the pickguard.
