Prada x Axiom Space Lunar Spacesuit

The Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment is the layer worn directly against an astronaut's skin during spacewalks, routing cold water through a tube network across the body's major muscle groups to pull metabolic heat away, while a separate loop delivers fresh oxygen across the face to clear exhaled CO2. The last time humans walked on the Moon, NASA's version was sewn by hand. For the Artemis IV mission, Axiom Space handed the work to Prada. Using engineered knitting techniques and 3D modeling, it's designed for up to eight-hour lunar surface excursions, with a fully redundant cooling circuit so a backup kicks in if the primary loop fails. Prada first joined the AxEMU program in 2024 to develop the suit's exterior shell, built for the thermal extremes and micrometeoroid environment of the lunar south pole; the LCVG extends that partnership inward.
