Renault Niagara Concept
Renault released a new concept truck in Brazil, part of a major new strategy to increase global sales of the French brand. The Niagara uses a front end that splits the LED headlights in a far more aggressive look than its current offerings, and more in line with American hardware like the F-150 and Silverado. The SUV-style proportions of the four-door body utilize a tall beltline and greenhouse, ending in a rather small bed. Underpinning the concept is Renault's new modular platform that can accommodate several body styles and lengths. In this application, a self-charging mild-hybrid 48V powertrain combines a front-wheel-drive gasoline engine at the front and an electric motor powering the rear axle. In terms of size, the Niagara would be competing with the Ford Maverick and Ram Rampage compact trucks.
