The rise of the smartphone as a primary camera has all but ended the compact market. Just don't tell that to Ricoh. Its beloved GR series is getting a new limited series model in the GR IIIx Urban Edition. Inspired by street photographers, it has a metallic grey body that undergoes a complex, multi-step painting process to end with a surface that's both grippy and smooth. It's contrasted with a navy blue ring cap that's meant to evoke the sky reflected in a puddle, with a matching blue ring on the included leather hand strap. Finished with a metal hot shoe cover, it's technically identical to the regular GR IIIx, with a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor, three-axis shake reduction, and a 26.1mm (40mm equivalent) fixed lens.
