Saving Private Ryan 1944 Willys Jeep

The Willys is so ubiquitous it barely stands out in a war film. With nearly 650,000 Jeeps built from 1941 to 1945, the Jeep's absence would be more noticeable than its presence on the screen. This 1944 Willys was built and shipped to the US Army during WWII, but its early service history has been lost. It wouldn't turn up again until was registered in the UK in 1977, and then bought by TLO Film Services in 1996 from an auto parts store near Newbury, England, a company that had been furnishing cars to film productions in Britain since 1962. The Jeep would go on to roles in Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and Pennyworth, among other films. The original Go Devil engine was rebuilt in 2023, and the iconic truck will go to auction November 11th in Birmingham.
