There's a reason soundbars have become so popular: they offer quasi-surround sound without the wires. Sony now has another option with the HT-A9. It combines an Apple TV-like box that connects to the TV with four satellites that connect to the box wirelessly. They use 360 Spatial Sound Mapping to allow for flexible placement — they don't need to make a perfect rectangle — and have X-Balanced speaker units for rich sound. They can also pair with one of two optional wireless subwoofers, one that's 200W and one that's 300W. The system supports 8K and 4K/120Hz passthrough, as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and Apple AirPlay 2.
