Sony Walkman NW-WM1ZM3 Digital Music Player
Sony introduced the first Walkman in 1979 as a small cassette player that made music portable. Its newest version, the NW-WM1ZM3, elevates sound quality with a 99.99 percent pure copper chassis. A second copper chassis covers the back, the screws are gold-plated, and thick Kimber Kable wiring, from a maker of high-end audio cables, is soldered by hand. A milled copper block over the digital section helps reduce noise. Music streams over Wi-Fi or plays from downloads on a 5.5-inch screen that shows the album art, for up to 35 hours of MP3 playback. The NW-WM1AM3 and NW-ZX900 use an aluminum-alloy main chassis instead of copper. Preorders are open.
